The Institute is unique among national universities in Japan in that has a goverment license to make alcoholic beverages, such as fruit wines and brandies. In the experimental winery, various wines and brandies are produced on a semi-industrial scale in close cooperation with the laboratories of wine microbiology and biotechnology, biofunctional science, and fruit genetic engineering.
