Faculty of the Institute played a major role in establishing ASEV Japan, whose headquarters is located in the Institute. This office is responsible for the management and administration of the Society. ASEV Japan, whose membership is made up of researchers and technical specialists from industry, governmental establishments, and academia, is the only such organization in existence in the country. It is the Japan Chapter of The American Society of Enology and Viticulture (ASEV), the world's largest society in this field. The Institute's relationship with the University of California and the Californian wine industry is particularly close, and involves active academic as well as technical exchanges.
